CMA CGM drives gender balance with concrete action

CMA CGM Group, is accelerating its commitment to women’s career development across shore and sea roles.

Under the leadership of Rodolphe Saadé and Tanya Saadé Zeenny, gender balance is now embedded in succession planning, promotion processes and key talent programs, including Graduate Programs and leadership pathways.

Across entities, local teams are rolling out targeted initiatives such as mentoring schemes, training on sexist bias, partnerships with external organizations and actions to attract more women into technical, logistics and maritime professions. The WE – Women Empowerment leadership program has already supported over 60 women in France and is expanding internationally, with cohorts in France, Lebanon and India, and soon in Africa.

Launched in 2024, the “She Sails” program is transforming women’s access to seafaring careers, having already doubled the number of women seafarers and setting a goal of 1,000 women crew members by 2030. The Group is also investing in the next generation through its partnership with Elles Bougent, which introduced more than 170 middle and high-school girls to scientific and technical careers at the Marseille headquarters in 2025.

These efforts are backed by strong recognition and indicators. In 2025, the Group reinforced its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy by signing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles and received the Maritime Transport award at the 2026 Trophées de la Mixité.

Key 2025 figures reflect this momentum: women represent 38% of the total workforce, 34% of managers, and 42% of the Board of Directors. The gender equality index stands at 95/100 for CMA CGM France and 84/100 for CEVA Logistics France.

Through these initiatives CMA CGM Group is building a workplace where women can fully realize their potential and where gender balance is a driver of collective performance.
